Lora Solomon MSN FNP
With over 30 years of healthcare experience I have seen numerous scientific advances, but I have also seen many aspects of the system stuck in a dysfunctional model of symptom management.
Throughout my personal and professional life, I have witnessed first hand the misery and loss that result from poor health. The week before my 17th birthday I experienced a violent assault at the hands of a family member. Given that my family members were leaders in a church, the assault was kept a secret and I was not given the opportunity to receive help. Three weeks later I attempted to take my own life. Even though I eventually escaped the toxic environment, the experience had scarred me mentally, emotionally and physically. For decades I struggled with a puzzling list of challenges. Anxiety, depression, chronic pain, suicidal thoughts, reproductive issues, confusing relationship patterns, addictive and risky behavior. Although I sought help on many occasions, the root cause was never identified or properly treated. My younger sister suffered with anxiety, depression and drug addiction. She was treated with a long list of prescription medications but her mental emotional and physical health declined. She died at age 44, leaving a 4 year old daughter behind.
Given that I spent several years of my life obtaining higher education in conventional western medicine, I naturally pursued every modality that conventional medicine had to offer for my symptoms. Like you or someone you love, I experienced the ineffectiveness, expense, side effects, frustration, and hopelessness of that approach.
In my work as a nurse practitioner, I came to see that although my story is unique, the treatment that I received was “standard of care”. I also came to realize that any chronic illness (physical or mental) is the body saying “no” because one has unconsciously suppressed their authentic “no” in order to survive. Self protection and survival mode literally reprograms the nervous system resulting in a loss of resilience leading to natural progression of imbalance, dysfunction and eventually disease.
In seeking to regain my own life and health I had the opportunity to experiment with many different ancient wisdom traditions and new approaches over a several year period. After benefiting greatly from them, and coming to understand how being stuck in “survival mode” drives disease I had to find a way to share this knowledge.
Throughout my career I have met thousands of people who have lived or are currently living with similar histories and situations. Those who seek help from the system but are only handed a bottle of pills after a rushed office visit. I know that although pharmaceuticals can be helpful for acute illness, they cannot reset the nervous system to send a message of safety required for the body and mind to heal.
As a Nurse Practitioner I have practiced in the areas of internal medicine, psychiatry, cardiac intensive care, emergency medicine, functional medicine, brain focused wellness and bio identical hormone replacement.
My education and certifications include:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing UNC Charlotte
Masters of Science in Nursing UNC Charlotte
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Institute For Functional Medicine Certified Provider
I bring my personal and professional experience along with my passion for combining the ancient wisdom traditions along with modern technology. My goal is to remind people that no matter what has happened, their whole, true authentic self can never be destroyed. When we own our story, we are free to live in the present, free from dependence on a dysfunctional health care system and free from pharmaceuticals.
It is my mission to inspire, teach and support you as you heal. I utilize my experience, group classes, advanced energy clearing modalities, sacred geometry, earth medicine, retreats, and courses to accomplish this goal.
